Canesten Pessary should be inserted in 4 easy steps: Remove the plastic applicator and 1 pessary from the blister pack and insert the pessary into the wide end of the applicator.
Squeeze the wide end of the applicator at both sides and push the pessary into the hole so that about 1cm is inside the applicator. Lie down on your back and insert the end of the applicator with the pessary now inside as deep into the vagina as you can and then slowly push the other end to dislodge the pessary leaving it inside the vagina. Holding the applicator pull the plunger out until it stops. With two fingers gently squeeze the hollow end of the applicator so it is slightly flat to help the pessary fit properly into the applicator. Remove one pessary from the packet and place into this flattened end.
Lay on your back with your knees bent in a position you find you are most comfortable in. Insert the applicator with pessary inside as high as is comfortable into your vagina. Slowly push up the plunger as far as it will go to release the pessary from the applicator. Retract the applicator from your vagina and if you have a 6 pessary pack pull apart the plunger and applicator and wash in warm soapy water rinse and then thoroughly dry, if you have a single pessary pack discard applicator.
Canesten Clotrimazole Thrush Treatment 1 Day Pessary: The mg single dose Canesten pessary provides therapy for 3 to 4 days as it creates high intravaginal concentrations of clotrimazole.
