One of her offspring "wouldn't listen to anybody" — a rarity in a species of listeners — but he "grew out of it after several hundred years. In the s, Guinan first encountered the Q entity, and both mutually consider the other an implacable enemy — though she went by a different name then. A century later she was not present when her people were attacked by the Borg and scattered from their home system thousands of light-years from Federation space — though she was aboard the refugee-filled S.
Lakul some 27 years later near Earth, in , when part of her being was trapped in the same Nexus ribbon which destroyed her ship and a sister El-Aurian craft and caused the apparent death of Captain James T. Following the incident, Guinan developed what otherwise would be dubbed a "sixth sense. Though usually a calm and reasoned observer, Guinan's personal life proved fitful and she held long grudges against both Q and the Borg as enemies — though even she relented against the latter when " Hugh " Borg proved civilized when cut off from the collective in She coyly says her relationship with Picard goes "beyond friendship and beyond family," and had earlier claimed she liked bald-headed men; she has vaguely spoken of "serious trouble" that she escaped thanks to the trust of Picard; in return, he once observed that, "Guinan is very selective about whom she calls a friend.
No stranger to the phaser range, she once beat Worf on Level 14, firing left-handed, and she silenced a dream-deprived paranoid mob in Ten-Forward with an energy-beam rifle hidden behind the bar. She has also been coached in fencing by Picard, begun when she considered exercise to strengthen her arm in Machavity Edited comment with the episodes, it's the 2-part episode bridging seasons 5 and 6 — Kevin.
Kevin I appreciate the info. That's really all I need. If you want to put that in as an answer and not a comment I will gladly mark it as best answer otherwise I will close the question.
To be precise without spoilers, it does not explain why Picard trusts Guinan so much. Like Kevin says, I think the basis of that trust is what you want to know? As far as I recall, I don't think it was specifically said in the series itself - so probably would have to come from the novels — Izkata. They act like someone saved someone's life at the risk of their own or some such life changing event and so became close friends because of it.
It's really left to the viewer's imagination to fill in the gapping blanks between the knowing looks and familiar comments of closeness and trust. I've watched every TNG episode at least twice, some numerous times and have found no real 'smoking gun'. Show 3 more comments.

From the perspective of Picard, this is actually his future rather than his history with Guinan. I would say that, yes, this answers half of the question Guinan's history with Picard , but doesn't actually give us any information about Picard's first meeting with Guinan from his perspective rather than hers.
I disagree too. In fact, in the episode Guinan tells Picard that if he doesn't go to this event, the 'meeting' I'm asking about will never occur.
Yes, this is how Guinan met Picard. This is not how Picard met Guinan. Add a comment. Guinan once stated that she likes bold men. Another hint that there is some chemistry involved. Einer I believe "bold" was a typo for "bald". You should clarify that, because it could make sense either way.
Seasons 2 and 3 of Picard are currently in production, and from what has been revealed, it seems that season 2 will focus on time travel and continue the tradition of bringing back beloved characters from previous shows.
Guinan was first introduced in season 2 of Star Trek: The Next Generation and went on to play a significant recurring role throughout the rest of the series. As the enigmatic bartender of Ten Forward, Guinan served as a confidant for many of the ship's senior staff and was shown to have a close personal friendship with Captain Picard in particular.
In January of , during an appearance on Goldberg's show The View , Patrick Stewart extended a personal invitation to Goldberg to reprise her role as Guinan for Star Trek: Picard season 2, an offer Goldberg accepted.
The details of Guinan's storyline in Picard season 2 have yet to be revealed, but fans have been eagerly awaiting any clues to what her role might be.
However, bringing Guinan back causes an issue that Picard already dealt with in season 1. Guinan is an El-Aurian, a race of aliens who are extremely long-lived and do not visibly age in the same way humans do. I once heard Whoopi Goldberg answer a question about this relationship not at a convention, but when she did her stand-up act. She said that Gene Roddenberry had always intended for Guinan to be Picard's great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great etc grandmother and that was the big secret.
But then, she said that Gene died and that episode never got made, presumably becoming "Time's Arrow" instead.
I'm not making this up, this is actually what Whoopi said. Savage Dragon , Jul 31, Picard got himself some El-Aurian lovin'. Guinan not only taught him the physical, but the metaphysical as well. She taught him to not only pleasure with the body but with the mind also. Thats why all the other women that came along afterward were so sprung off this 5 foot 6 inch bald guy who was supposed to be french but kinda talked with an english accent.
All joking aside i thought it was great that there were only brief statements concerning their relationship, it kept it mysterious in a way. To me it was enough to know there was a bond and that they were important to each other. I always liked to think he asked her to come on board to take up the role as counselor when deanna couldn't provide the right answers.
