Possibly because it takes place in a magic world of the s and not the modern — sort of — days. If somebody wants to read mainly about a love story, Twilight is a better choice than Harry Potter. Yes, there are romances in the Harry Potter world as well but they're a small part of a much bigger mix. Twilight focuses on the romantic relationships between its characters, and while not everybody may like Bella and Edward together , there are some other interesting couples, such as Alice and Jasper or Esme and Carlisle.

It's true that Bella might be relatable for many young readers who also feel they're in no way special. But she's way too dependent on Edward and her behavior when Edward temporarily dumps her is far from healthy. Harry Potter, on the other hand, has plenty of amazing inspirational strong female heroines. There's Hermione, of course, and Ginny , who may not have gotten much love and space in the films, but she's a total badass in the books.

And neither of them let their whole lives revolve around their guys. Both Harry Potter and Twilight belong to the fantasy genre but only Harry Potter properly uses all the genre offers it and can truly be called imaginative. Twilight also includes some original elements but it's very much connected to the everyday world.

Harry Potter creates a brand new world with its own set of rules and details, though, and it's fascinating to discover it as people keep on reading or watching.
